FOREWORD

THIS church is unique in retaining almost all its original fifteenth-century furniture and fittings, and is thus specially deserving of the gifts of lovers of ancient and beautiful buildings. Though much restoration has been completed since this book was first published in 1934, further repairs are urgently required if the building is to be preserved.

Chief among these is the restoration of the outer stone walls and the replacement in oak, of a great amount of deal intruded into the south aisle pews. Will you send a contribution towards the £500 needed to the undersigned at 58, Talbot Street, Nottingham.

A detailed and illustrated account of the stained glass can be had from me at 2/6; also an illustrated account of the Barton and Bellasis Families, price 2/6.

NEVIL TRUMAN.

May, 1946.

The church is 4 miles north of Newark, about a mile from Winthorpe, off the Collingham road.
